Prayer Beads made from Your Roses

Knowing that prayer can help us focus on Love and Unity, calm a stressed mind and bring our lives back into alignment with the Divine, I wish to encourage people to discover — or deepen — their own personal practice of prayer.

I believe that our love for God, however we may understand or name the Divine, is one of the foundations upon which a more peaceful and harmonious world can grow.

Connecting with God every day does not necessarily require belonging to a particular religion or following a prescribed form. Prayer can be deeply personal. It can be spoken or silent, traditional or freely created. It can be the prayer of a Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, Bahá’í or a person who simply feels a longing to connect with the Divine beyond religious boundaries.

What matters to me is the movement of the heart: turning away, for a little while, from the noise and preoccupations of our individual selves and remembering the greater Love and Unity to which we all belong.

I believe this inner movement is also important for our world. When human beings remain centred primarily around the separate, self-focused ego, separation can continue to manifest outwardly — between individuals, communities and nations, and between humanity and the natural world. War, exploitation and destruction are expressions of a world in which we have forgotten our deeper connectedness.

Every sincere movement towards love, compassion, peace and awareness can help us remember it again.

The ancient practice of prayer beads

For centuries, people from different spiritual traditions have used beads to accompany prayer and contemplation.

Sitting quietly and repeating sacred words, prayers or names of the Divine can become a simple but profound practice. The hands move from bead to bead while the mind gradually becomes quieter. The words cease to be merely words and can become a doorway into stillness.

Prayer beads made from your own roses

One of the ways in which I would like to support this practice is by handcrafting personal prayer beads — especially Rosaries — from real rose blossoms.

The beads themselves are handmade from 100% natural rose petals. Made from roses, that already carry a special meaning for you.

Perhaps they are the roses from your wedding. Roses given to you by someone you love. Birthday or Valentine’s Day roses. Flowers connected with a person who has passed away.

Or simply roses from your own garden that you would like to preserve in a very special way.

You send me your dried rose petals, and I will carefully transform them by hand into beads and create your personal prayer beads from them.

I am happy to make traditional Rosaries, Malas, Buddhist prayer beads or prayer beads inspired by another spiritual tradition.

How it works

Each piece is made individually and by hand.

After receiving your dried rose petals and agreeing with you on the design, please allow approximately 3–4 weeks for me to create your prayer beads.

Once finished, they will be sent to you by post.

Spiritual economy

I believe in the idea of a spiritual economy. The talents, abilities and creativity that have been given to me are gifts from my Creator. I therefore see giving them to the wider community as part of my natural contribution to my world.

For this reason, I don’t put a price on the time and love that I give to making your prayer beads.

Only for physical materials that I need to purchase — such as the elements used to connect and complete the beads or packaging and postage — that, at least for now ;-), are not being given to me for free, I will kindly ask money from you.

Once we know what kind of prayer beads you would like me to make, I will happily calculate these costs for you beforehand.
