About

I am Julia, a composer, musician, writer and cookbook creator drawn to divine beauty in its quiet, natural, humble forms.
Born into a musical family in Austria, I began studying violin at the age of five at the Graz Conservatory, continued my musical education in Florence, London, and Vienna, exploring diverse styles and traditions. Alongside music, linguistics have been accompanying me since my youth. I found my place in poetry, where language feels soft and sounds melodic. Later, I was blessed to be given the opportunity to experience myself in Spoken Word Art, being part of the Austrian poetry slam scene.
As a young musician, I performed in youth orchestras and sang in various national and international choirs, including the World Youth Choir. In my twenties, I discovered my passion for songwriting, and in recent years I expanded this passion to composing for choir, orchestra, and ensemble. I recently started to perform as a solo artist under the name Maria Joy, coming back on stage after a personal sabbatical from the entertainment world with a new awareness and a grown consciousness, blending my musical past with the divine expression of gratitude, pure joy and Love.
Music is at the heart of my work. I compose with an intuitive, fairy-like sensibility — guided both by formula and feeling. For me, sound is everywhere and in everything. It can open a space for healing, invite to dance and sing, as well as gently reconnect us with our essence.
Living consciously is important to me. My attempt to lead a life close to nature and deeply connected to God has influenced my creative work as well. Today, I am expressing spiritual depth, contemplation on life and its purpose, strong feelings of love and connection, and my desire to share this all with you.
This website is a space where the main threads in my life meet: spirituality, devotion, love for music, poetry, vegan food, and deep care for the planet Earth.
If you feel drawn to God, to nature, to quiet depth — you may find something you like here.
