NEPAL Floods Relief
We are collecting money to support the village Gatlang in Rasuwa, Nepal.
A part of a glacier in the Himalayas collapsed on August 26th 2026, causing a huge flood that swept away homes and bridges and left at least 5 districts in shock. Many people died, too many are still missing. Families lost their fathers, mothers, children and animals.
I found a call for help online by four young women in the remote mountain village Gatlang 03 and decided to focus my attention on helping them and their community. We have raised 1.252,- Euros so far and continue to raise money so we can make sure everyone can get to Kathmandu safely as soon as the two river crossings that connect the village with the rest of the country are accessible again and roads good enough to reach town by Jeep. We also try to support the affected families with clothes, food, baby stuff, women’s hygiene stuff and more. Our attempt to hire a helicopter was not successful due to strict regulations and control by the government and Nepalese Army. My friends and one of the villager’s sister in Kathmandu are coordinating the distribution of the donations, transports and keep everyone up-to-date.

I have transferred all the money collected to the village women’s sister in Kathmandu, Pasang Jemo. Overwhelmed by this grace that she and her family are receiving, she is trying to collect her senses and make wise plans to distribute this money in the best way possible to members of her community that have been affected most severely. I am trusting my wonderful sister and her big heart that all money will go where it should.
In the meantime, I am following the events and governmental news as good as I can. My mind and human heart are not yet fully at peace, since I feel much more could have been done! Knowing that the sisters as well as many more distressed villagers are still stuck in Gatlang and nobody has managed yet to reach the village by Jeep, while governmental relief support doesn’t seem to feed everyone, I keep thinking about what I can do from here.
Meanwhile I continue to raise funds by going to the markets and sell my vegan produce. I would also love to, eventually, go to Kathmandu myself. But this are plans for maybe next year, since my wallet is exhausted and I need to see that my husband and me can get through the year ourselves…
