Jams from dried fruits (no sugar added)

This recipe instruction is exemplary for all different sorts of homemade jams made only from dried fruits and fruit juice.
Feel free to experiment, trying out different combinations.
These two – made with a figue or prune basis – already worked well for me.
Added lemon or orange zest give it a citrusy touch.
Enjoy!

Jams from dried fruits (no sugar added)
Equipment
- 1 immersion blender
Ingredients
- 200 g prunes (and/or)
- 400 g dried figues
- 600 (for both jams more) ml water
- 200 or 300 ml fresh orange juice
- zest of 1-2 lemons (figue jam) or oranges (prune jam) (organic)
- ca. 5-7 tbsp lemon juice
- cinnamon, ginger powder (optional)
Instructions
- This recipe is an example recipe for dried fruits jams in general. Figues and prunes work well with the following method:
- Cook the dried fruits (separately) in water (figues 600 ml, prunes simply well covered with water) until soft, pot covered (ca. 30 mins). The figue stems should be removed before! You might need to add some more water, in the pot with the prunes it can evaporate until only 1-2 tbsp liquid remains.
- Figues:Drain the liquid, preserving approximately 1/3 cup.
- Blend the figues/prunes together with 200 ml (figues) or 100 ml (prunes) orange juice, citrus peel, and spices (optional).
- Add lemon juice to taste.
- Fill the jams into sterilized jars.
