Homemade Oat Milk
We can produce our own plant milk 🥛 in a very easy way. You need a basis product containing proteins, which can be almonds or roller oats, water, maybe a pinch of salt (optional) and a good blending device. This is how I make our homemade milk from fine rolled oats:
Homemade Oat Milk
This simple recipe provides a pure plant milk with ingredients that most of us usually have at home. Enjoy!
Equipment
- 1 Blender or immersion blender
- 1 cheesecloth or kitchen towel
- 1 fine sieve (optional)
Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats (certified gluten-free for a gluten-free milk!) I use the fine ones
- 4-6 cups water see that it is cold!
- 1 date optional
Instructions
- Use 4 cups of water for a creamier milk, 6 for a thinner one.Blend the ingredients for 30-40 seconds, not longer (blending longer results in a slimy milk!)
- Pour the liquid through a fine sieve preserving the milk in a pot or other container (if you have non at hand, do step 3 twice).
- Now pour the milk through a cheesecloth or a kitchen towel that has been rinsed and wrung out properly. Be careful not to loose the edges. Let the water drip. And be patient. Once it’s all out, scrape out the oat pulp and save it for another recipe.Â
- It is recommended to repeat this step for a fine oat milk.
- Enjoy your homemade oat milk!
Notes
The remaining oat pulp can be used to make patties, cakes or cookies, or simply mixed with plant yogurt for a simple breakfast.Â
